Why is there a need to take a fresh look at how to choose the right load security solutions to preserve deliveries, satisfy customers and ensure compliance?

Packaging Products Packaging Products (Coatings) Ltd has worked in logistics and transport for many years and understands the commercial realities involved in making decisions on optimal safe loading and load security options for haulage operators and freight distributors.

As one of Europe’s largest manufacturers of non slip pallet liners, waterproof paper and board serving a wide range of industries home and abroad we realise it’s an important time as pressure on haulage has never been greater. Costs to ship, energy costs and margins are being squeezed like never before.

Why load security matters to hauliers right now

The Road Haulage Association (RHA) reports that 98% of all food, agricultural, consumer products and machinery in the UK are transported by road freight. In an industry worth £124Bn GVA to the UK economy, manufacturers and third party hauliers are operating as cost effectively as possible.

That is a huge amount of cargo. And despite best efforts, it doesn’t all arrive safely and in one piece.

Despite lots of debate within the industry, at the time of writing, there is still widespread confusion over the best ways to best secure movement in transit.

Current recommendations for optimal secure loading fall short and don’t include emerging technologies that have a significant impact on freight security in transit, especially on the continent.

As the DVSA continues to debate the merits of new technologies, check out our other articles that address the challenges hauliers and transporters are facing.
